Recording Video Demos with IMovie 8

Post by taylornutt »

I am finally getting my act together in my studio and getting my Macbook pro setup properly. I have an old Mbox 2 ( 2 channel) recorder with one channel coming from my amp and the other to a vocal microphone. Everything thing works great in Garageband. I can set the mic and amp to separate tracks and record.

The problem is getting the audio to come through for video demos in iMovie. I set the Mbox as the default input device in system preferences and startup iMovie. I record the demo with the iSight Camera. The video records fine but no audio. I have done this before for a video demo using the older iMovie HD, but can't seem to get the new iMovie do the same. I need to check if iMovie HD will still work in Snow Leopard.

Thoughts?

I am on Snow Leopard (10.6).

I have no idea whether this still works with iLife, but SoundFlower used to fix this sort of stuff: http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/

Could you record the video and audio separately then sync them up? Record the video with iMovie, record the audio with Garageband, then sync them in iMovie. Put a few claps at the start so that you have an easy point to sync it.
