I'd like to avoid leather/suede if possible. Do Couch straps provide any relief at all for heavier guitars?

Why? I've found most other materials less comfortable. Also vinyl is more likely to damage the guitar's finish if your worried about that.

Also you could always use strap locks to isolate the strap from the guitar, and when your not playing just remove the strap.

maybe he's vegetarian. vinyl might eat a nitro finish but i reckon poly would be fine. mind you, i've seen poly do strange things before. my old compstang has weird marks at the bottom button where it looks like it decided to munch a strap.

I was a vegetarian until about a year ago (started eating seafood again). Buying leather/suede products for me is no different than eating a steak that is a product of a CAFO. I don't want to support it because I have a fundamental problem with the way the animals are treated. I'm not a militant jerk about it, though, and I'm not necessarily opposed to eating humanely-raised meat. Sorry for the long explanation.

There are times where I have to buy leather products like shoes as there aren't often wide shoe sizes for vegan shoes. So, if I can't find a comfortable non-leather/suede option for a guitar strap, then so be it, but I'd like to see if I can first. I think the Couch straps look great, but I wasn't sure if they would be comfortable with my guitar as it's a little heavier.

I have no preferences when it comes to straps. Aslong as my guitar is not on the floor I'm happy.

I've got an old Kodak camera strap that I've been meaning to adapt into a guitar strap.
Just like the one below but stinkier.

My family owns a small photo chain in Northern Ontario, and I used to have a few of those around. I always wanted to turn it into a strap but never got around to it. I reckon all are long gone now unfortunately. I do however still own more kodak memorabilia than anyone ever should.

Aye, me too. I really hate that, it's really annoying and uncomfortable. I always spend ages readjusting a strap if it's leather/suede because it can't slide to find it's own place.
