Ryan Adams is a continuation of the classic Bon Jovi formula; music for people that don't like music, but like to think they do.

My point in that thread was and has always been; that each of us should choose to boycott a product based on how important we deem the issue to be (i.e. you do what you choose and vice versa) I brought up a few other instances of wrong doing in that thread which I deem to be of greater importance than the whole Dano / prop debate highlighting the double standards of what people were saying I wasn’t the only one voicing that opinion. I was just the focus of you ire as usual. I still maintain that being against the right gay couples to marry isn’t as big a reason for boycotting a guitar manufacturer as the human rights violations exacted their workers in the far east... but like I said we don’t have many sweat shop workers on the forum for you to jump to the defence of in a vain attempt to curry favour.

So anyone you deem to be a ‘Top Boy’ can say what they like and it’s a joke but anyone else saying something similar has to have some sinister meaning.benecol wrote:The vibe's utterly different to Fran's; he's a top boy. You just tend to surface and goad whenever this happens.
Ps: I didn’t just surface, I started this thread which was hijacked due to someone else using an unacceptable turn of phrase...

Cold Roses by Ryan Adams & The Cardinals is one of my desert island discs. Although it might not be anymore, it's been a while since I've heard it. Anyway, I'll certainly agree he's hit and miss. As for guitars I'd most relate him with Telecaster Deluxes, not Strats. However, his best guitar work I think is with his lastest mainstay, the woody looking 335 with Bigsby.
TexasSwede, sounds like a great idea. Keep us posted!

Not to totally side-track this with Ryan Adams discussion. I feel that the only album he's ever put out that was track-for-track solid was his first, "Heartbreaker". All the other ones seem to only partially deliver and fall short for me as far as "whole albums" go.
Additionally for whomever was talking about what guitars he played, you can check this site, but I didn't bother to register to actually look at the pics:

I certainly wasn't stating Gold was an artfully crafted masterpiece, and it certainly isn't something that pushed any boundries. I go to other musicians for that. When I want well put together pop country, he is my guy.ekwatts wrote:No it isn't.knpknpknp wrote:To be fair, Ryan Adams is only complete crap half of the time. Is it so wrong to like a musician that is easy to listen to? I definitely don't pop on his records often but it is certainly handy when I want something tolerable that my parents can get down with. Heck, I tried to get them into Sleigh Bells last time I was visiting, but they weren't having it!

I think because me and benecol have been good friends for a while he knows exactly where i stand with this stuff even when i type something that may read a bit skewiff or a clumsy attempt to lighten up things.dezb1 wrote:So anyone you deem to be a ‘Top Boy’ can say what they like and it’s a joke but anyone else saying something similar has to have some sinister meaning.benecol wrote:The vibe's utterly different to Fran's; he's a top boy. For the record i fully oppose gay hate, racial hate, sexism, blah blah blah and any form of oppression including that of far eastern workers and even the world climate. As most people do. But like i said the Dano thing is not at the top of my agenda, if its at the top of other people's then that's their choice. However, i get sick of seeing threads getting derailed with the same old debates but when Bacchus said i should 'jump onboard' i thought yeah i might very well do that, hence the joke with izodiak.
I know and that’s pretty much my view as well. I’m not anti anything, except oppression of personal freedom. Oh and capitalism (which is a means to oppress). It just does my nut in when he constantly tries to make out that I support what that wank at Danelectro did.Fran wrote:I think because me and benecol have been good friends for a while he knows exactly where i stand with this stuff even when i type something that may read a bit skewiff or a clumsy attempt to lighten up things.dezb1 wrote:So anyone you deem to be a ‘Top Boy’ can say what they like and it’s a joke but anyone else saying something similar has to have some sinister meaning.benecol wrote:The vibe's utterly different to Fran's; he's a top boy.
