It's a Shergold; never seen a white one before though. In my experience, they look great but play like shit.

They play shit? That's kinda dissapointing. They do look lovely though, especially in white.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, RobertOG; they're by no means the worst I've played, but they're not great.

And some lemons just can't be saved.

Dont worry, you'll probably never be able to afford one anyway, that's if you can find one.

I have to disagree too Robert. Had a few here that were impossible.

they're a bit crap but i've hear a LOT worse recently. i'd rather listen to that than 90% of the indie that wafts its way over here from the states.

sorry to be a wanker, but unless the neck is twisted, anything can be the best feeling guitar you have ever held.
even if it means a refret and a total re-working, it can still be magic.

Unless the bridge is misaligned, or the neck pocket is cut wrong, etc. Some guitars are just duds, and not worth putting years of time into. That's not to say that all Shergolds are, just that I don't think all guitars can be made into the best feeling guitar I've ever held.

bridge misplaced, thats a matter of filling holes. waiting till the glue dries and re-setting, same for a neck pocket.
takes 3 days max.
im just saying, a 10 dollar garage sale P.O.S. can play better and feel better overal than an off the wall guitar center gibson or fender.

You can do all that in three days?

10 mins to fill the holes, then a day to let the glue dry and then 30 mins on the third day to re-drill, then set it up.
its not that hard. i will say it again, any piece of crap can play like butter with the right amount of work.

i'm pretty sure a guitar with a radius that doesn't agree with my hands is automatically disqualified as the best guitar i've ever held, and not really much can be done for it at that point.

I think most of it is in a neck, if a guitar has a decent neck the rest is secondary. I've had guitars made out of ply, mdf, acrylic with a mixture of hardware and because they had good necks they were good guitars.
The trouble is there is a fine line between a 'bad neck' and a neck that does'nt suit your preferences. Unless its old, worn or vintage if you need to refret, re-nut a neck to get it to play nice there is something seriously wrong.

I noticed some necks are too flimsy as well, like the whole thing goes flat or sharp when you grab the neck. I had a Squier Bullet Special like this, fair enough it played nice but the neck had no stability... what you gonna do? Put reinforcing steel rod inserts into the truss cavity?

I agree with this completely. I've swapped necks between Strat/Tele bodies and heard the sound follow them around too. It's weird, but almost everything is in the neck provided you swap it onto a guitar with a similar bridge set-up as the one it was on before.
