Tele thinline repainting...thinking about gold hardware :S
I bought this SX Tele thinline from Noirie (I think it was him) about 2 years ago, I hadn't even played it and I've had it stored away all this time. I decided to repaint it and then finally put it to use...
This is what it looked like:
Painted it like this (not finished yet):
The body is drilled for a modern-style Tele bridge, so unfortunately my vintage-style, brass-saddled beast is too small.
Bought this EDEN bound rosewood neck for cheaps, it's of excellent quality:
Now I'm thinking it may look cool with gold hardware, maybe matching headstock too. What do y'all think?
P.S. The neck pocket on the body is about 1mm too wide for the neck, would it be feasible to spray paint inside the neck pocket to lessen the gap a little?

id go ahead and fill that pocket properly so you dont suffer any sus or tone loss... just remember to equal out both sides so you dont have any string travel problems.

what about a very thin application of wood filler? I know that is not 'best' but would most likely be better than paintTheBurbz wrote:I'll struggle to find something thin enough to fill it with

1mm is a lot of paint to fill a gap that may or may not have pressure applied to it one day.
i would've jammed a shim into it with the neck on, cut around it, and then pulled it out, slathered it in wood glue, glued it, and then painted. i'm guessing you painted the body before you got the neck?

Yeah, I painted the body first although it's only had one coat of paint so no biggie. The SX dimensions are funny, I remember I tried a Squier neck last year and it was a lot more than 1mm too narrow.hotrodperlmutter wrote:1mm is a lot of paint to fill a gap that may or may not have pressure applied to it one day.
