I got my Blacktop Jazzmaster in the mail on Wed, its a very nice guitar for the cash.... I only have 2 gripes, 1) the trem does not have the locking button as Fender states (check the pics closely on their site) and 2) the tone knob does not work as well as I like. I think I will be changing the tone cap very soon..... other than that it is a SWEET axe... its better built than the 2006 MIM strat I had, fret are very nice, finish is perfect, all was adjusted pretty well from the factory, all I did was tweak the intonation :D

I am not sure what cap is in it as I have not cracked it open, I am assuming its a .033 like a normal JM, you guys think this tone cap change will make the tone knob more effective? also .022, .033, or .047......?

No need. It already comes in the best two colors Fender has.

Quick instore Demo. The demo is good, but this guy always uses a little too much reverb to really hear the pickup.

2TS way > 3TS FACT!

I have enough black guitars, want something else. Why even have a fucking color sheet if they aren't going to use it? Carmel Metallic Jazzy. Tangerine Jazzy. Daphne Blue Jazzy. NOT BORING 3TS or BLACK LIKE EVERY OTHER DAMN GUITAR OUT THERE!!!!!!

This particular super muted scumburst is pretty sweet actually. As a world recognized expert level hater of scumburst, I actually intend to get the burst jazzy. That must say something about it.

Wow....$730! I guess this is a situation where I can say I'm proud to be an American...... It is a really nice axe and blows away the MIM standard Strats & Tele's but that is alot of cash for a mexican guitar...but I guess all fenders are marked up like that for you.... I personally would not spend $730 but take that with a grain of salt as I am a Gibson guy at heart.... I actually got my BT JM for under $400 (its good to know peeps).... It's quality and if you really love Fenders then don't rule it out.... I like it better than any Fender I have played in a reasonable price range....

PS. Finally got a pro set up on mine and am super impressed with how it stays in tune, I can jam the bar and it will still be in tune for open chords, it stays in tune as well as my Gibby SG and the JM has the floating trem

I want one bad. But knowing stores in Toronto/Peterborough they will be marked up to atleast 550, or 600. In peterborough probably 700 or 800...

I really just like shortscales too much to get a jazz. But If I were to get a full size it'd probably be a jm
Even a start for 400 would be a good deal to me.

I think Musician's Friend (part of Guitar Center) and Zzounds ship to Canada. Have you checked out their prices? You might also check with Sweetwater (where I'm getting mine from).

I demo'd one, it was pretty nice for the price. I would say that it's probably the best entry-level offset guitar besides a used Classic Player. I'd say there's no point in getting a Japanese version anymore since at that point you may as well save up a bit more for a used AVRI.

I liked the humbucker personally. I was never a fan of the stock single coil JM sound.
