The name comes from Orville Gibson, they guy who founded the guitar company.

I played an Orville Firebird a year back or so. Excellent construction and finish, almost made me want to
like Firebirds.
And while we're on the name, I've another ghost haunting my mind's architecture:

i own of the vintage les paul copies. basically a lemon drop without the lemon bit. gives me that classic les paul grunt and it's great platform for mods. they can be had for quite cheap as well.

THIS . I know its not a Les Paul but it will get in the right ballpark and these supposed to be the dogs danglies. Possibly made on the same line as the Westbury's.
