The cost to send it to me is not too bad but I fear the import taxes/levies will make this an expensive deal.

By my understanding, the guitar mentioned in the OP is "more for fans of the show than for people who know things about guitars, but it can be played!" according to the Japanese internets.
Apparently, the bridge and tail-piece are really a Jaguar/Jazzmaster setup, rather than a copy of the Mustang's Dynamic Vibrato.

Japanese K-ON! fans have been debating which model and particular shade of red her guitar is really supposed to be, and have basically come up with the following:

MG69 OCR - Fender Japan common production -> Model/inspiration for the original (manga) version.
MG69-75 OCR - Production ceased -> Model/inspiration for the animation.
MG69/MH RED - Shimamura Music made-to-order -> Fender Japan common production. Very similar to the anime color.
MG69/MH CAR - Shimamura Music made-to-order -> Fender Japan common production. Between the anime color and OCR.
MG69/MH OCR - Ishibashi Music made-to-order -> Taketatsu Ayana, Azusa's voice actress, used this in the K-ON! live concert (2009).

"Azunyan" is my favorite character, so I had to get one of these! While not the branded "Nakano Azusa" Mustang per se, I decided to go for the MG69 MH OCR, since it seemed the most "correct" of the lot. (Alas, the tuning pegs on it are silver, while Azusa's are white! but who cares :p ....well, I can always change the pegs later ;_; ) Though I'm just a beginner at guitar (guess where I got the idea to pick it up!) it's smooth as silk compared to the Epiphone Les Paul that I picked up secondhand at a "recycle shop".

I ordered it from Ishibashi Music's Ochanomizu store; they have an English site (for the Shibuya store) here: http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/eng/
I live in Japan, but they do take orders and ship internationally, for orders over 50,000 yen.
More info about the guitar itself (in Japanese): http://1484.bz/ochanomizu/106178/

And now, pictures! The postcard and pick came with the 4th volume of the K-ON! manga. It's also possible to get the neckplate below, but it's bundled with a K-ON! branded gig-bag for about 12,000 yen, so I passed on that for now!

I don't have much experience with guitars so I can't really give an expert opinion or anything like that. I had been using an Epi Les Paul, which was already fairly short, so switching to the slightly shorter Mustang wasn't a big stretch (no pun intended!). People complain that they go out of tune easily but I haven't had any problems so far (I haven't been using the whammy bar though). The fretboard is pretty smooth and slick, and with the narrower neck, solos just feel more comfortable.

Not a K-On fan, but shit, I'm tempted.

Hmm I think he still bought a Fender 69 RI, not the guitar in the OP.

@blitzwing How much did you end up paying for the guitar btw?

Ah yes, I mentioned that in my post but I guess I didn't make it clear enough! Ya it's a Fender 69 RI, and it was about 75,000 JPY. ($925 USD or so)
I basically posted in this thread because it seemed relevant enough, haha.
You can actually get an MG69 RI for 67,000 JPY ($825 USD); I essentially had to pay more because it has Azusa's paint-job -_-;

I've seen the Legend LMG-01 Mustang in stores (the one from the other Mustang thread that popped up recently) and that one is about 30,000 JPY - It looks and feels fairly decent and is probably a better buy than the guitar in the OP.

Lol that was me who posted the thread about the Legend. I really wish I could go to Japan again. If you get the chance next time, take some pics!
