Part way through jigsawing out the metal (old electrical enclosure back plate) I ended up cutting and re-cutting everything more than once, the neck slot was too small, as was the pickup hole.
And the pots and switch were too short to fit through the body and the plate, so I opened the holes out so they could rest against the body and the knobs would cover the damage.

Bad photo. when I was screwing in the guard I dethreaded the screw head towards the top and it's sticking out an annoying amount without moving, so the gaffer will stay til I fix it.
