For a while I've been wanting an Edwards LP 98LTC...but I need a grand, which I dont have. So Im thinking of selling my Fender Mustang Dakota Red 1965 RI its 100% stock only has 1 tiny little ding on the back of the neck I paid 850 for it 2 years ago how much do you think I would be able to sell it for?

I'd estimate it's value at $20, but because I'm a good guy I'll give you $30 for it.

I do not now about Canada, but around here they come up from between 400 and maybe 550. Vintage obviosuly alot more.

TYpically, a guitar in solid shape is usually worth about 1/2 the new price. Less with alot of damage. Maybe a bit moe if it is brand new (no scratches, etc and still has tags/case candy type stuff.) Unless an item is hard to find at the moment, that is about normal. So if you have some time, you can probably sell it for around 550 or so if you are not in a hurry and if it is in new condition. If you need to move it quick, it has some wear, or some combination of both, the price goes down accordingly.

You can see a parts mustang on here with a vintage neck for sale for $400 from Terminal Vertigo..

i think you mean Aeon, but it's essentially a home-made body with some unusual specs, so not an ordinary parts-stang.

i'd normally expect 60% of the value for a 2nd hand sale, but it depends on the model, obviously.

You should be able to do $500 with no problem I don't think.

The 65 RI is more desirable than the 69 RI and I see those go for between 350-450 all day.

Oh, I missed it being a homemade body.

Ultra, your RI '65 Mustang has a lot going for it and you can emphasize its strong points when you put it up for sale...

Point out that as a '65 reissue yours has the original Mustang design. The slab body has the true vintage vibe compared to the more modern '69 body. Many potential buyers won't know this distinction unless you point it out and some will find your axe more appealing.

Use words like "original" or "authentic" like, "It's color is vintage-correct Dakota Red".

Also you may point out how light it is and how comfortable the size & shape are to play for hours.

Bet you'll do well on Ebay.

the 65 RI also has copper plate shields to keep away phaser cannon fire noise and it has pickups that are authentic replicas of the 60s Fender Mustang pickups (fiber bobbins, cloth wire ..) I got a good price for mine, you I guess the markets are not really comparable.

Why is the 69 RI worth Less? Don't they have contours and competition stripes?

some have compstripes, yes.
but the pickups of the 65 are VASTLY superior and many people prefer the "original style" body the 65s have.

I want to say some of it has to do with it being basswood instead of alder along with the milder pickups . I have a 69 RI . I actually like it .

65s tend to go between $400-600 used . $400-$500 for 69s . RIs . At least that's what I've been seeing .

I love my 69 reissue. Granted, it's got a P-90 in it so it sounds nothing like it's supposed to.

I definitely see 69's get as low as $350 on the old CL. Just have to keep a watchful eye.

Of course, if you apply a "purple shadow outline" to the finish you might be able to get +$3000 for it, like this guy.
