Chasing these glassy guitar tones

Post by taylornutt »

I like the glassiness of his guitar tone in these songs.

I have these guitars.

and these pedals

I hear some kind of echo, but not sure how to dial it up. Any help would be great. I am not sure how much is the WRHBs and the pedals that are being used.

I just got a 1975 Silverface Musicmaster Bass amp with 2 6V6s and I also have a Marshall JTM 30.

Well that's all good.

I'd say for shits and giggles, try any of those guitars direct into your Musicmaster with no pedals except the TU-2 -> DL4. Make sure the amp is turned up pretty loud so the tubes can start working.

get a stadium PA system and you're set :D

besides of that I think chorus, reverb and a little bit of echo will do the job, alongsinde a good overdrive. Just be sure to make no effect too dominant in the signal.

In fact, the JTM-30 will get you there too.

i'd go tele into the pedals that George mentions. bridge pick up. It's funny, I got the memory toy from Noirie today and was just playing with it and got a similar sound with this set up although I had cut the bass a little and boosted the mids/treble on my amp. I'm sure that you will get close to it with what you have here though, just think simplicity on the set up would get you there

just messing around with In My Place a bit this morning and some modulated delay on tempo with the mix dialed back, smidge of reverb [NOT TOO MUCH!] and a little dirt from the pathfinder. Used a tele on the middle position.

I am thinking middle position on Jaguar is very nice and bright. The Baja Telecaster with both pickups in parallel and play with the in and out of phase could work as well. Coldplay's guitarist uses the Jaguar on the song "Yellow" as well as his Fender Thinline Deluxe Tele.

I may have to get a guitar with the WRHB at some point.
