Schecter Guitar Research!

Has anyone on this board heard about these guitars? http://www.schecter.co.jp/catalogue.html

Possibly only for the domestic market, but could possibly be in other parts of asia.....any sightings ultratwin?
They seem like very high quality guitars for a "decent" price. The high end models go for around 1,300 usd.

they also make their own pickups which have extremely large pole pieces. anyone interested?

They're cool, but in the UK I can only seem to find the diamond series guitars.

I'd love one of their strats. Apparently the pickups are really good too?

So they're not in the UK too? Interesting. Honestly they're mystery guitars. I can't seem to find any info on them in english.

They look great, its a shame I haven't been able to find them here. They look quite similar to Tom Andersons, which is always a good thing.

Schecter has'nt been a huge hit in the UK yet but its got a growing following. Emo/Metal bands seem to be the only ones adopting the brand up to yet, possibly taking over from the now out-of-favor PRS.
Personally i dont like the brand, they seem bland and the headstocks are awful. The only one that made my head turn was the Ultra? model, like a non reverse Firebird kind of thing.

P.S. That Jag thing would be okay if it was'nt for the pointless top chrome plate and foul headstock shape.

Aye, i expect not.
There was a guy on ebay modifying Schecter 7 strings to 6 string guitars to benefit big handed players, i wonder if he's still at it..

Schecter really hit on something a few years back with the Hellcat(?) Jag-type models (which sported a proper baritone, too) and that Mustang-a-like. But then they went back to concentrating on Gibsonified stratocaster models, which were far from poo, but not exactly the sort of thing that gives me even semi-wood. Add to that the closure of Sound Control who were the major UK distributor and the noise around Schecter has died down a bit recently.

I think that's the bill they fit in America too.

A few Schecter models have interested me but they've been rip-offs of other stuff. I quite like the Hellcat (guitar on right), and they do a Bass VI version

Yep, 'zactly what I was talking about! Those two models are brilliant. I even halfway like the headstock, which is really saying something for a non-Fender head.

Didn't notice you mentioned the Hellcat there. I'd definitely say looking at it again now that there isn't a thing about it I don't love, visually at least.

They made that white Hellcat for like 5 minutes and only in two lame colors white with that awful tort and sunburst. They could have had something there, with better color options and more availability. Also there was no Baritone version of that 3 pickup Hellcat, which would have made too much sense.

I LOVE my Hellcat VI

Fantastic bass for a good price. My only gripe is the lack of tremolo and the standard 5-way switch cutting off some switching options. I wish it had switching like the Ultra III, with each pickup having an off/on/coiltap switch; that would give a tonne of tonal flexibility.
I've recently strung the VI with a set of LaBella HC-6S, and they sound/feel really good.

That said, I'm also in love with the Ultra III design, as others have mentioned. It's a great, fairly original design with a lot of flexibility.

Most of the Schecter line is, for my tastes, garbage. They seem geared towards shredders and other more technical styles... that just isn't me. But, if they're build quality is anything like the quality of my Hellcat VI, they're solid guitars.

Never played their guitars, but they make a decent 4-string bass. I've got a "custom-4" and it's my go to recording bass.

They sell them at Wembley Guitar Centre, where I work !!

Good guitars for the money and they sell well... on par with Ibanez really.

Haha, true. "Research" seems to imply that they' haven't quite come to a consensus on the guitar yet, no? Reminds me of what university professors' personal offices are called here in Korea: The word yeonguso literally means "reasearch center", but they usually turn out to be little more than a mini-internet cafe for one, decked with a small library and hardwood furniture.
