Fernandes 80's mustang copies.
There is one for sale not too far from me (maybe 45 minutes) for $250 and I am thinking about it. I know little about older fernandes guitars but have heard some good things.

I am thinking of calling and offering him 200 since I have to drive as he seems open to offers.
Any thoughts?

i'd say it's definitely worth $250. $200 is a bit of a low-ball.
'vintage' fernandes strats go for like $400+, so this kind of rare stallion would be worth every penny. from what i hear, they're the most accurate copies EVAR.

$250 is already a great price but offer $200, what do you have to lose? He won't be so insulted he tells you to get lost, worse you pay $250 or maybe negotiate $225.
Even at $250 you'd get your money back on eBay, for sure.
That Epiphone in the picture is pretty cool too, it's Japanese Market SG with "lacquer" finish.

I recently bought a Musicmaster Bass Amp on Craigslist and the price was $225. The seller dropped the price to $200 without even asking because he really wanted to move it. I would go for it.Nick wrote:Very cool guitars.....Do what Jcyphe said....you never know someone's situation, it doesn't say price is firm so it could be that he could be expecting $200 and priced it $50 over in case someone haggles. Worse case scenario you pay $250, but most likely will meet in the middle at $225

They made a few Japan Epis with the Gibson headstock shape, and continued to do so in Japan well into Epi's internationally MIK years (late 90s). They're usually seen in the west as "tribute" models or variations on the "elitist" line of a few years ago, the double p90 flattop LP specials with that head go for big bucks.
The Japanese SG also has a more accurate body shape (the Korean G400 has duller, fatter horns due to a less extreme body bevel than the Gibson SG's).

So I talked to him. He seems pretty set on the epi.
He has another person interested in the mustang who is right now on the way over to take a look at it. If the guy balks or flakes then it goes to me. I will let you know if I get it. If I do it may be a flip on here as I have never played a mustang before and may or may not get along with it. If that is the case, then it will be as a bro deal one way or another.
