Modtone pedals are really Belcat pedals or vice versa.
been looking at some of the modtone range of pedals, there booster and dyno drive pedals sound really good. though there a tad expensive over here.
a quick look around and apparently a lot of their range is available in the cheapo belcat range you can get from cash generator etc.
which lead me to this

which is apparently this

basically, do you reckon it's worth giving the belcat a punt instead of the modtone if it's the same pedal?

the dyno drive is split bypass like the belcat. some of their line is buffered, some true bypass and the rest split. dam foiled plans.

They claim it's true bypass here.

Basically I wouldn't trust them at all.

The ModTone MT-OD Dyno Drive is a true bypass boutique style overdrive pedal...

i can't find much about what they sound like bypassed. though kinda put off by mike's findings. shame as ii could of picked up 3-4 belcat versions for the price of one modtone version.

I think the non modtone style belcats are different circuits. For example, the modtone/belcat chorus only has two knobs. The very cheap chorus has 3 knobs.

Right, old thread but i'd thought i'd dig it up. i order one of these from gear 4 music and it arrived today.

needed a cheap analog delay that i could set and forget, nothing fancy. it looks exactly like the mod tone version but with cheaper graphics. according to the base plate it's true bypass, though the gear 4 site said it was buffered. either way, after plugging in and chucking in my bypass loop i can't here much signal loss. nothing compared to say a crybaby or something. the delay sounds really good, quite surprised. lo-fi sounding and gets a little bit grimy with longer settings, but very nice sounding. no noise whilst on or bypassed and works really well in front of my amps drive channel. at £20 it's not gonna beat a DD-3 or AD-9. but i'd say it's worth getting if you use delay once in a while. perfect slapback sounds and you can get your edge sounds too.

i thought it was. i was getting defensive for some reason.
i can remember sticking my crybabys in loops and thinking, that's where my top end went.
after clicking back and forth for a while, i can't tell any difference in signal, so thats a plus. it's really really good, just playing floyd's echoes with it on, proper nice sounding.
i'll try and do an audio demo at some point, before and after dirt. it's doesn't self oscillate, so not one for the noise makers, but worth a punt george.
