I have an extra SX neck so I've decided to make a guitar out of it. I'm planning on buying a body from rondomusic in a little over a week and I'm having trouble deciding on colors. I wouldn't mind spending a little bit of dough on the color of the paint but whatever paint I use, I would like to be able to buy a clear coat locally that doesn't cost $16 a can. I really don't want to spend $50 on a finish.
Anyways, I want a tele bridge pickup with a Gibson style humbucker in the neck. I also am pretty set on the warmoth style guard as well as adding a Jazzmaster/Jaguar tremolo system. I liked the bigsby on my tele is just made it too damn heavy. Here are my mock ups, which do you think looks best?

I'm really not a big relic fan either. I love the look of old beat up guitars, I just figure that if I relic guitars the finish doens't have to be as good while I learn to get better at finishing.

I see that for sure. The comp orange was a last second idea it has always been my favorite finish so I figured I would do a mock up to see what it was like on a tele. The thing is, I'm pretty set on those features and I don't know how to make it look less busy. (other than the comp orange)
Then I photoshopped a jazzy trem off of the offset builder. I also used the comp stripes from the builder on this site as well. (Right under the log out screen there is a builder link you can use to make Mustangs!)
Ehh, I HATE those bridge plates. The base/route for a tele pickup needs to be covered, imho.
I just couldn't make a guitar like that and be happy with it. I did think about doing a tele deluxe style guard with jazzmaster pickups and a jazzy trem. Maybe I should do a mock up of that.
Also, I posted this on the tele forum too. Lots of great info over there but the stuff on this site is definitely a lot more fun to read. Anyways, on the polo over at tdpri, comp orange is winning. WHAT?!
