Jensen Mod 10" 50 watts for guitar?

Post by brandon. »

I was gonna order 8 of these for a 6x10 cab(2 spares). 50 watts each, wired in parallel for 5.3 ohms...
what do you guys think of this idea? I'd be playing a sunn concert lead through it.

5.3 ohms? what ever happened to the old standbys 4, 8 or 16?

I think that's a great idea as long as you get impedance to work. Is that a pretty good deal for those speakers?

$240 for 8 speakers seems like a good deal to me. I don't need anything fancy, just something reliable.
5.3 probably looks like 4 ohms to a solid state amp. I'm pretty sure that when you measure a cabs resistance, it's almost never dead on 4, 8, or 16. I think you always just round it off...

It looks like 5.3 Ω might be more common than I am familiar with. A friend was looking at this "zmatcher" recently and 5.3 & 2.6 are on there, pretty cool. (I was meaning to start a thread about it but I think this is the perfect place) I also forgot that the sunn concert amp was solid state and if you're not worried about it, then do it.

I have those in an old sunn 6x10 cab I play my sunn solarus through. It sounds like a monster. Sounds great

here's Sublimedo playing thorough it with his and Rochello's band Swing Hailey when they came to Portland and played

Nice, thanks for the video. So they do well as guitar and bass speakers? I guess if they're advertised as SVT replacements its not a big deal.

So are they guitar speakers that work well for bass?
or bass speakers that work well for guitar?
I'll be in drop c.

I've never used it for bass, cause I have a fender 2x15 cab thats MEGA bassy, but i like how a low tuned guitar sounds through it.
