second helping hands and maybe some locking pliers. Saves a lot of time and aggravation. Multimeter would likely be useful. A heatgun for the heatshrink (I tried a hair dryer once but it didn't get quite hot enough). Zip ties are almost universally useful.

i feel i need to speak up here a little with my own personal experience with this shit.

I have strippers similar to those that work just fine but I also had an automatic pair at one time (no clue where they are now) that were pretty flash. They looked like this Image

18 gauge wire was the smallest I would work with, though.

In TK Maxx today they had Amtex or Amtrex soldering irons for a fiver. I can't find anything on google about either of those names.

It's yellow and looks very similar.
