BLIPTRONIC 5000

Post by DanHeron »

Never seen these before... but damn its going on my christmas list. Its a small synth with a grid type sequencer to control it. Has 6 (i think) "retro" synth sounds. Looks pretty cool, only £60!!! Even cheaper in the US as well.

Imagine it through some pedals!!

Even more exciting, this guy used the audio out signal and a small bit of audio>midi software and now it works as a midi sequencer in Ableton Live! Whats cool is the way the software registers the notes by pitch and turns them into midi signals, so when you turn the octave knob on the bliptronic the software suddenly will start registering new notes/trigger new samples in ableton.

It's just like Music for 18 Musicians by Steve Reich in a box.

I'd love to get a drum machine that had a load of buttons laid out like this. I reckon it would be really simple to use, I find programming regular drum machines such an effort and they never sound like I want them too.

Yeah, it looks like a bit of a toy but if it you could hook it up to trigger drum sounds it would be sooo worth it. It looks really simple in that video, I'm very tempted.

I've seen some of these turned into monomes which is pretty cool. Quite a few mods for them out there.

If HAL 9000 mated with R2-D2 and their electronic offspring was tutored by Kraftwerk it would probably end up something like the Bliptronic 5000 LED Synthesizer.
