Not tried the dirty Rat but tried the others. To me the standard Rat is too loose on the chugga chugga, need something more compressed. I like HM2s but mine didn't work for this stuff.Ro S wrote:Fran -
If you're after a high gain fuzz distortion, would either a Boss HM2 or RAT You Dirty Rat be any good?
Hotrox also stock both versions of the EHX Graphic Fuzz. Combined with a distortion pedal it might do what you're after? The G/Fuzz won't do the 'wasps in a tin' you want to avoid.
Plenty of tonal control with either the Boss HM2 or the Graphic Fuzz.

I'll check the guyatone links when I get home.
I htought this was going to be the bee's knees, but it get's pretty tinny through a twin. If you're smooshing up dirty tubes though I htink it sounds better.endsjustifymeans wrote:
Of course, I only use Hair of the Dog/Eau Claire Thunder for my BOOMFUZZ.
High quality, low popularity Ecstatic Fury
Nah, Andy is morecowbell on FSO (not shortscale's morecowbell as I've seen pics of both these people) and that's it as far as I know. Believe it or not he actually made a few corrections to values when I RE'D the Ultra Lord. Seemed like a pretty nice guy at the time but long after that under his HCFX username (forget what it was, although gringo loco does ring a bell) he was a wanted man as he took peoples $$ in advance for orders but wasn't delivering. I'm not sure if he delivered but he certainly fucked a lot of people around real good.benecol wrote:Reeeeeeally? Fran, you tried the turbo Rat?
Fran wrote:HUGE factor! I play through a totally clean 1970s Laney Valve Head. I noticed on some video demo's the guys amps are already crunching up before they engage the pedal, which is a bit misleading.SGJarrod wrote:I can also say that in my expeirence of owning the Mastotron that I feel is sounds shit thru a completely clean amp,
If all I had was a clean amp I would just do Mastotron into OCD then amp and worked great.....
Thr Trifecta is a SOLID pedal!....muff/bender and does have the Sludge control

Nasty. Thanks for clarifying, and apologies to The One True More Cowbell.Earth wrote:Nah, Andy is morecowbell on FSO (not shortscale's morecowbell as I've seen pics of both these people) and that's it as far as I know. No problem!
And if any of you want the famed and discontinued "cream pie" designed by him, here it is for free (both versions):

EDIT: I done some detective work and I can now verify that GRINGO LOCO IS indeed MORECOWBELL (not SS.org) and DRAGONFLY. I fucking knew he was, I just couldn't remember. His names Andrew Carrell, he lives in the U.S and he is an alcoholic.
Gringo Loco admits he's dragonfly and I know for a fact that dragonfly is morecowbell
Don't do bizness with this fucker!

If the Laney is anything like a Bassman and you want max fuzzed out bass, avoid the SF300, avoid the Hyperion.

As mentioned, i noticed a lot of pedal demo's are with Amps already crunching up. So i'm thinking of trying a mild Overdrive in front of existing Fuzz pedals i have to start with, i dont know if it will achieve the same results but it could quite easily be a lot of the problem.
Its not ideal, i'd rather purchase one box that delivers, hence this thread.
The Laney Head is actually a PA head so as you can imagine it is very clean.

Whenever I did this with the OCD I got the best results at about 1/4 gain on the OCD......its kind of a balancing act if you know what I mean....just enough to flavorFran wrote:As mentioned, i noticed a lot of pedal demo's are with Amps already crunching up.
