Converting a CIJ Jaguar HH Special to a single coil Jaguar?

Post by astrozombie »

Hey, after reading the site for a while I decided to join, y'all are into the same guitars I am. I just ordered some Bronco knobs last night **happy**

Well anyway, I own a Jaguar HH, the black one.

while I like its humbucking tones, I've been wanting to get some single coils recently.

that's what I want to do, minus the pearl guard and the bigsby.

the goal is to get this from that jaguar.

I know it can be done, since the one with the bigsby up there was just like mine before. now, ie never adjusted the pickups in a traditional Jaguar, so i have to ask: are they directly in the wood? this means I'd have to drill holes for them in the humbucker cavities right?

you could just save yourself the grief & sell the HH & buy a single coil one. Unless you are undertaking this as a bit of fun.

It's actually been with me at a few big gigs I did and it's traveled with me a bit, so it has sentimental value. the mod is easily reversible, which is my favorite part.

yeah, they sit on pieces of foam and are screwed into the body.

The mod? No, I think I could put the humbuckers right in if I wanted to. I'd have to rip off the pieces of wood that im going to have to glue in to mount the single coils to, but besides that its just a pickguard swap.

You're not putting the tremolo on it then? I think that's the irreversible part that serfx is talking about.
