Way too tempting at that price. $249 is amazing. Seems to me that you could make it an amazing guitar for not too much more as well (tuners, strings, etc..). Pretty tempted to get that since my LP project turned out to have the neck angle set wrong.

I played one at GC and the neck was shit and the frets were cut terribily, the frets did not even go to the edges of the fret board....... I would not buy one without playing it first.... the quality control is not good on these.....

I have been wanting a P90 guitar and thought these would be a fair option at the normal price...not so..... I think I will eventually buy a used G400 cheap and put hb size p90's in it

the one I played did have the gross dyed fretboard too........

I think an Epi LPJ is a bit cheap (in a bad way). Hell, the Gibson LPJ and MM are cheap enough IMO (in a good way).

I played some $300 Epis once, they felt like a $300 guitar, shit!

Agree. If you find a Melody Maker with a good fretjob (they DO exist) that's a better deal than an Epi setneck Jr due to the one piece neck and hardware/pickup. You can get a used one from GC for $400-$450.

Slightly disagree, but only that $300 Epis feel like $300. Because they're substantially cheaper than Gibsons people tend to overlook the fact that Epiphones are also overpriced... they're licensed to use those classic designs after all, your options are limited if you want a late 50s style P90 Special. The pricing on the current Chinese Les Paul Customs is getting out of hand, $700 or something.
It goes the other way too... I think Epi G400s give you more than you pay for at present.

This $300 epi was $400 recently, they must be clearing them out.

Some of my favorite guitars I've ever played were in the $300 range or just slightly above.

Fuck, my least favorite guitar was my Gibson Gothic LP and that was like a $700-800 guitar.

It's actually a Les Paul Special - Juniors only have one pickup.

If you get a Korean one for sure, the Chinese ones are hit and miss.....Althought about 1.5yrs ago I played a Chinese G400 Faded that had one of the most perfect necks I have felt...so comfy.....

I am wanting to pick up a used G400 or G400 Custom in white and throw some p90's in it...... Figure $300-350 total.....

I have seen those at GC,they look better than the picture. Like a real TV Yellow color, you can see the wood grain through the finish. If I didn't have the Gibson version I would buy one.

I just wanted to add that 3 of my favorite guitars are my:

- Epiphone Les Paul Jr '57 Reissue (from their "Custom Shop" whatever that means), which I put a Lollar P90 in
- Epiphone Les Paul Deluxe (which I put Antiquity II pups in, I believe this was also from their "Custom Shop")
- Epiphone Les Paul ES (The hollowbody Les Paul one, which I still need to mess with the electronics/pups on, I believe this was also from their "Custom Shop" as well)

I like that ES so much more than my Gibson Les Paul it's criminal.

I like the Chinese epi LP customs, bit pricey yea but great none the less. All the HB's need swapping IMO but I do that on almost every guitar.

I went into Sam Ash on Sunday looking to get a quote for the repair for my Boss pedal and went browsing for them but they didn't seem to have any of these out preferring to stack the wall with $2,000+ LPs and ignoring me because I didn't look like I had money to buy anything.

While we're on the subject. MIC '56 Pauls dropped $100 and are down to $399 for the Proggy Gold Tops. LINKOLA
