Hagström Viking....bass?
Saw one in store today, and began to wonder why haven't I heard of these before. Any info? Hagström's web page doesn't say anything about them. Didn't get to pay it but it looked cool in black.
Wild spirit of the Eagle, Black hawk, bird of prey design
Was it deffinitely a 'viking' bass? these look like the bass versions of the viking, they are called 'Concord' : http://www.vintageguitars.org.uk/hagstromConcordBass.php

Ok yeah... Honestly I wouldn't bother with new Hagstrom. Strictly concerning their basses, the first Viking reissues with the 3x3 headstocks weren't TOO bad for the price but I feel this company is slipping away in terms of quality by the year. The newer reissues (the ones with the stupid headstock) were pretty poor in terms of build quality.colabonham wrote:Yup, too bad they can't(?) use the fenderish headstock anymore.
Here's what a first reissue Viking Bass looked like:

I don't understand why they feel the need to use a new headstock shape.Nick wrote:I actually don't mind the 3+3 Hagstrom headstock.....I'd even say I prefer it to the Fender style one on some of the semi hollows.
That pointy thing looks like it belongs on a ibanez/esp or something more than a Hagstrom.
It's my understanding that the company that bought the rights to Hagstrom have the rights to all of their classic designs. The OG Hagsrom company switched to the 3x3 headstock sometime in the early seventies. Personally, I think it's one of Hagstrom's more memorable designs... The implementation of this new one just cheapens the brand ever further.
