Any love for musicman here?

Post by JJLipton »

Not quite classic enough for Gibson/Fender guys, not quite progressive enough for Ibanez/Jackson/ESP guys. This weekend i went to Osaka and tried out a few guitars, among them being a very nice Gibson les paul custom and a jackson soloist sl1. I wasn't really satisfied with either untill i played the musicman jp6. This guitar is perfect! The neck is finished with wax/gunstock oil and feels thin like a mustang neck with a flatter radius of 15inches. The color changing mystic dream finish is spectacular in person. Image

Any musicman fans here? Basses or guitars?

Petrucci is a fan. I'm sure that's a solid guitar but not exactly affordable.

I have a Stingray. I LOVE the way that it feels and plays, but I've grown more towards passive pickups, so I can't really get along with the sound of it anymore. I still like the way it sounds for certain things, but it's just not the sound that I like anymore. I've never gotten the chance to play any MusicMan guitars, but if they feel anywhere near as good as my stingray does then I'm sure they're great!

great guitars but way expensive and I generally do not like the finishes. I hate that purple blue color (I have seen it in person several times). To each their own though. I have played one of the old EVH models my friend had and the neck was amazing (but I would never own a floyd rose guitar as I do not use trem at all...)

These guitars are built to be perfect to play, and they damn near are. If you were ever to define "playability" its a nice Musicman. Every one i've played has been perfect, but damn it all I'll never afford one.
catch 22, yeah?

Never played a Musicman guitar, but own a 1978 RP112 sixty five and love it!
It has reverb and phaser built in and footswitches.

The bloke I bought it off had it from new and was only replacing it because it wasn't loud enough clean for the band he joined.
He replaced it with a fender twin and reckoned thay sounded very similar.
