I think those originated in the weird transitional period when Fender was trying to phase out the budget Dearmond guitars but trying to keep some of the Dearmond-style models in production.

350 for a squier that solf for 350 new is a joke.

Wait until black Friday and go into GC and you will be able to walk out with a new epi dot (and probably not the cheap model) for under 300. You can probably get the nicer model with a case thrown in for around 350 on BF (or at least a gig bag)....Same goes for some of the Ibanez 335 style guitars....

If you are really sold on that particular guitar, then go check it out. I have a hard time believing it is worth 350 but it may be some weird collectible thing. That said, I would pay attention to the pups and the feel of the neck if I was checking it out. Replacing pups in a hollowbidy is alot more of a pain in the ass than a normal guitar so if the pups suck, the guitar has a huge black mark from the start.

Thanks mickie, didn't know about pups being an issue with hollowbodies...

There is no black friday in Canada, nor Guitar Centre, but on labour day I'll probably go to steves music in downtown toronto for a epi-dot.

yes this is correct.
i remember they had this, an sg style, and some others. they were pretty cheap and i always thought all the models looked kinda janky.

Hah. Yep...

I am truly lost. Both feature a more solid sound than my Mustang, but the Empire is Canadian (support my own) and has both humbucker and single, whereas a dot has two humbuckers but the hollowbody-ness makes it abit more trebly like my Mustang... I also think some Quebecers will build better guitars than mass production korea plants. But I like the look of hollow bodies better...
