I'm looking to buy a vintage short scale.

I'm new here. My name is Glenn and I live in Miami, FL. I also live in San Juan Puerto Rico, where I have a band. We play "pop-rock" music. I'm also starting another band with a college friend which is going to play more alternative rock. Like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.

I'm a huge Fender fan and have almost picked up what I call the Big Four (Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jaguar, Jazzmaster).

This is my rig.



save for the JCM and cab, I'm running an AC30 now.

Anyway, My next guitar is going to be a Jazzmaster because Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. have been blowing my mind lately. I can't really decide between the J Mascis Model and a vintage Jazzmaster. The J mascis wont make me feel so bad when I'm gigging..



After that, I plan on collecting oddball fender guitars. I'd have a budget of about $1,000-$1,600 set aside just for this, but I'm still looking for the most accesible guitar at first. I kind of want it to be a bronco.

does this sound like a good plan, or is there something cooler and weirder I should look at first?

Key Example - The Musicmaster neck I bought: The old guy said when he ripped apart the guitar there was a piece of paper wedged in a poorly routed humbucker slot that said "Owned by Kurt Cobain"
Fucking kids in the 90s...

So yeah, make sure you get gooood detailed pics of everything because a LOT of nice vintage shortscales have been butchered for teh kurdtz

um, i think it's mainly to do with bridges. mustangs have a good bit less sustain and are a bit clunkier than something with a MM/duo bridge in my experience. but if you're a trem user the advantage is obvious.

also, maybe you're a bit clumsy and tend to switch the pickup selectors on/off with your sleeve when playing (i did it at a gig last night) so perhaps a MM/bronco would be a better choice- ah, but bridge or neck pickup only- which is it to be??
