quick one: reverb before drive

Post by Progrockabuse »

how good/bad does it sound? i'm playing to sort my new amp out tomorrow, but my sticking point it reverb.
the dual terror doesn't have reverb nor and fx loop, so if i want verb it'd have to be a pedal or re think the amp-ness.

Ooh you're getting a Dual Terror?

In that case FuckAReverb and just play in a.. Room.. that will provide... ROOM Reverb.

i've tried it and it's really really good. the fat channel is really nice. i'll be using that more often than the terror channel. i'm going for more of a clean/verge of breakup sound then wacking the DLS into it.

Reverb before dirt is okaaaay, but really not a patch on the other way around to be honest. Give it a bash with your POD providing the 'verb into the Fender, presuming you still have the POD.

You need to spend more time with a reverb pedal, sonnyjimbo- the "average house" room reverb is pretty much inaudible, especially in comparison to "stately home" room reverb; instant Albineeez.

i'm boxing up the pod as we speak, though hoping the post office will take parcels.

i could try sticking a reverb plug in before my amp sim on garageband

Distance, son!
Ok, so we did have to move the mic all the way across the building to get the WHA BOOM we wanted on our last album, but more subtle effects can be made in less than 50ft. OR (in terms of recording) a mic a ways off and then an EVER SO SLIGHT delay on the track as a whole. NOt an echo, just the wet signal a few ms out from the close mics.

not everyones cup of tea, but listening to the sound. he's running the verb in to the front and it doesn't sound like shit. how? he's varying the gain, but even when it's higher, still sounds good.

sorry for the resurrection.

I must say I did like the sound of my bassman cracking with a booster and the rv-7 out front

i'm thinking that if i run the boots or od before the verb and then in to the amp, might sound pretty good. hot signal and all that jazz. he's using a rv-7 in that vid and it sounds really nice on the spring.

That was hardly a lesson but I loved the out of phase Les Paul tone. I've also never heard a 335 shredded on so well.

I wouldn't like Moore's face gurning at me though!

To be honest, fuck all this play in a big room stuff. Just jiggle about with settings. EDIT: A pedal like the Verbzilla would be a good shout. Time control means you could have it blend in after the harsh attack of your picking wears off so the verb is going through the power tubes less driven. Plus the tone control can stop it getting to peaky or icepicky.
