Spoke with my colleague - it's his friend, not his brother's, and they aren't imperfect, they're just half-a-dozen "overstock" pieces that Tony Zemaitis gave him over the years! Zemaitis used to grumble about the stars failing to pay up promptly, too - "that George Harrison still owes me for one of these", etc. James has played some of them and says they're really good players.

The friend also has several 50s/60s Strats and a couple of Les Pauls.
