How much do you think a 1994 R7 worth?

Post by westtexasred »

Ok, I went to my friends store and he had just gotten in a 1994 Les Paul 1957 reissue. What makes this guitar special is that it is the 7th of the only about 50 or so R7s that was painted by Tom Murphy in 1994 when he was still working at the Custom Shop. The price tag on this guitar is $2,800 and I think they would take $2500. The guitar is on consignment so they won't sell it for less. What do you think a guitar like this is really worth?

It's crazy. I had to have it. This is a really nice Les Paul. There is a long story about the history of this guitar but I forgot what my friend told me.I think he said that this guitar used to be at Savage Audio where they used it for testing amps.My friend said the guy who consigned it is the road manager for Sheryl Crow and Pearl Jam. Actually,he saidthe guy is selling this guitar to raise money to buy my friend's '57 Gretsch 6120 .

I had 2000 R7 that was nice but this one is better. It really is the best of all the Les Pauls that I have had.It is hard to see in the photos of the front the difference between the Murphy and the 2000 R7 I used to have but you can see the difference in the back. The dark back and sides really look like those on a vintage Les Paul.

2000 R7 and 1994 R7

I found out who the guy who used to own my guitar is Andy Wolf. He is not a tour manager for Sheryl Crow, he is a guitar tech for the Sheryl Crow's band(Peter Stroud's tech) as well as Beck, and Pearl Jam . I think he used to be one of the owners of Savage Audio, that must be why he got this guitar from Savage. I know that he designed some Savage amps and cabs for Beck.
