Musicmaster Bridge Cover

Firstly, beautiful guitar.

Never seen a bridge cover on a musicmaster before. Anyone got any deets? Id love to line one up for the project ive got in the pipeline if anyone knew if you could still bag them anywhere?

They came with the Musicmaster I style bridges, but not the II ones (August '64 and later).

I dunno what the fuck if they even exist or not.

I don't think you can put a cover on them.

Yep, they do? No pick-up cover can fit them DAMN!?

Those bridge covers (OP) are identical to American Strat bridge covers, except for a step in the bottom lip to clear the Musicmaster/Duo Sonic's pickguard.

The ones for the Strat are being reproduced for under $30.00. Buy one of those and grind/file away the area that interferes on the bottom flange.

NOTE: The new reissue Duo-Sonic bridge is the old (rectangular) pre-'64 style, but is missing the tabs to hold this cover in place. So, make some tabs or buy a vintage bridge if yours doesn't have the tabs.

Vintage Duo-Sonic bridges ain't cheap, either...

i was considering getting rid of a vintage duo/mm bridge (pre '64 type) and replacing it with el cheapo squier CV bridge for a wee project i'm doing; but for a while the squier ones were almost as hard to find as the vintage jobs (if not moreso), so i hung onto it.

That Squier bridge stamping isn't bad. Keep the springs and screws, too. Replace those awful saddles with some proper brass intonated ones and you're OK. Problem is that original bridges are usually $100 or more. When the Squiers were easy to find, I stocked up on 'em.

Exactly the same--a Squier plate lines up with one of my old bodies ('56) perfectly.
