My Shrimp Shack Shooter!

Post by westtexasred »

Another guitar to scratch off my "bucket list". This is the same guitar as the one my best friend got in 1965 when we were both 12, a Silvertone 1413 in Robin's Egg Blue. He played rhythm guitar in a band named "The Chordbusters".

That's from "That Thing You Do" but it's a scene that parodies stuff like Beach Blanket Bingo. I love that part.

Nice one westy. Though I'm half expecting a HEY HEY HEY I GOTTA RUDYCASTER thread from you one of these days.

It's a Kay single coil. Here is a vid of the 1415,the later version of this guitar.

This is the predecessor the 1410. Same pickup I think, except this one has a "cheese grater" cover.

"Vintage and Rare " and "they wanted something silly". Go together like "Titanic" and "iceberg".

Vintage and rare make me drool and despair at the same time. why can't gibson/epiphone just re-release the mini humbucker les paul, saving me £3000 on a V&R one.

great guitar, Westtexas. i like that colour.

Thanks guys! I paid $295 for mine.More than I wanted to pay but I don't know when I would see another copy in good shape for less if I didn't get this one. This is a guitar that shows up on ebay from time to time but most copies I have seen are missing parts or they are in bad shape with paint flaking off and others are in good shape but they have been modified.

Over the past 5 years I have seen a couple of really nice ones on ebay but they were priced at $500 or more.I remember one even had the original matching blue vinyl gigbag!

This is a photo of one that sold on ebay about 4 years ago for $500.

I wouldn't say $295 is that bad of a price for it. It seems like about the lowest you can find any old silvertone or Kay these days. And I've never seen another one of these for sale.
