How well do these guitars perform while distorted? I've tried to find a good review, but all of the better quality reviews only showcase the clean tones the guitar can produce.
I got the idea to try and get a used Mustang after the first of the year, but the Duo Sonic will fit the budget better. I've got a Blackstar HT-5 and I'm going to be playing stuff kinda like this:
I did a Duo Sonic demo a while back. I used Small Clone Chorus and some distortion towards the end. The pickups sound great both distorted or clean.

It's a decent thickness. I'm most comfortable at 25.5" scale, but the CV Duo plays really nicely. I got one for my Daughter (riiiiiiight...) and I play it a lot around the house. Havent had it plugged in in ages, but I remember it sounding really good!!!
i dropped a lil screamin demon in the bridge position on my cv duo since i already have two single coil shortscales to play if i need that tone. it really just depends on what sounds you're looking for. i think the stock pickup sounds all right when overdriven, but it's not amazing or distinctive other than enough to say "yep, that's a single coil." i guess what i'm saying is the stock pickup is serviceable but generic; you're not likely to plug it in and go "wow! this is the sound i'm looking for!"
