Either of these worth building ?

Painting? Routing? Set-up tips? Or just straight-up making a guitar from scratch? Post here, and post pics!

Either of these worth building ?

Post by othomas2 »

Been messing around with some old trusted designs this holiday tweaking here and there trying to learn 'gimp' a little better along the way.

The designs don't seem original enough so not sure I like them enough to have one built. However workoffire is local and has the resources to do something for me if I so wish. :D

Probably go for a single in the neck and cool rails in the bridge.

I quite like the idea of using some roller knobs (not shown) as a volume for each pickup, ala jazz bass. On a separate circuit using a regular tele pickup selector along with volume & tone so I could have a option of either/ or.

Which do you prefer aesthetically ?

I perfer the look of the first one better but if your going for something different than a traditional mustang look than the second option is pretty cool too.

I prefer the first one, I like the Bronco and Tele-DeLuxe influences.
Are you going to build with a Strat neck?

The second one is alright, the first one not very nice at all. The second is lacking some detail, like an upper jag control plate or a tailpiece or something.

The second is much better. I think the lower horn pickguard needs to either be like a mustang or a tele deluxe but that in between looks goofy. also, the mockups lack detail because the white pickguard blends in with the chrome.

silver guitar are kind of bleh . . .

I like the second, but think two angled pickups would make it look cooler.

I like the first, but think with both pickups slanted and a toggle switch I would like it more.

I like the jaguar mustang combo feel to the second.
