Re: Replacement Pickups
If the stock ones are BurstBucker pros I maybe interested in buying them off ya.....?????Ian wrote:I hate my Gibson Les Paul Std.
It sounds like poo.
I really like my Strat Plus, it came with Lace Sensor Gold pickups which are really low output.
My other favorite is my Tele with a Lil 59'
I don't want to just stick a duncan 59 in my paul. I want something more unique. A little cooler sounding. But nothing with more output than a 59.
What do you think?

yes i know. but listen to the sound samples from john petrucci solo album suspended animation. a hot, full, thick (fat) sound.mrperson wrote:The Steves Special is 18K, which is very high output.weeping_moon wrote:Put a Dimarzio Steves Special humbucker.Ian wrote:But nothing with more output than a 59.
a lovley humbucker.
Again, more down to the amp, pedals and technique he's using.
I guarantee you, he could've played a stock Jagmaster on that track and it wouldn't sounded much different, especially when there's a ton of gain involved. Unless you're playing clean guitar into a clean amp, you can't put too much emphasis on the pickup.

18k is literally too high unless you're a virtuoso. That's not even an opinion. I'm being objective and speaking about everyone. Have you actually played one? Any shmuck like me or you wouldn't have the dexterity and ability not to make every whistly noise and squeek make you sound like shit.
I tried a Dimebucker and that happened and that's only 16.5k. Dimebag could use it because he was a master of that sort of thing (which I have no interest in. Whatsoever. Ever.)

I used to have a guitar with a motherbucker in, it was 21K or something rediculousGeorgeF wrote:18k is literally too high unless you're a virtuoso. That's not even an opinion.
