You know, I was pretty well set on not wanting one of these... then you had to go and say that. I imagine the routes are identical on each as a cost saving measure, so having a shortscale jazzy may be as easy as buying the jaguar and swapping the jazzmaster pups and pickguard onto it. This would interest me.

i don't think it will be as easy as swapping out pickguards, tbh. based on looking really hard at the only digital picture we've seen, it would appear that the jazzmaster pickguard is longer in the most important areas. again, that may not mean anything, but it sure looks larger.

that butterscotch blonde has my mouth watering but

1) do not like maple fret boards
2) wanky bridge
3) the double stack knobs are stupid for how much I use the knobs, will just be in the way

3 strikes and its out.... I know all this can be changed but by time u mod it, it will no longer be a "cheaper guitar"....cuz I fully expect these to be at LEAST $300.... not to mention a pu swap

I wonder if they will start putting out a reg MIM Jazzy with actual JM pu's?...... not HB'ed like the BT

I mean seriously, how hard would it be to change the route at the factory and put the JM pu in the bridge on the BT series, and then charge $450.... I bet it would be the same production cost as the BT series

I don't think the Jazzmaster has the double knobs, just the Jaguar.

Anyway, I'm getting some cash in the next few weeks and I'm now thinking about guitar options. The Jazzmaster is right up there as a proper project guitar.

Honestly, how did no one at fender raise these concerns before putting these abortions into production? A flat jack bothers no one, and the 3-way switch is always on the lower horn! C'mon! I could almost deal with the bridge if it wasn't for the other aesthetic issues..

It will be interesting to see how these hold up to the Classic Vibes, which are fantastic guitars. I love the tinted neck on my CV60's strat, its my main axe.

I think the switch on the top is a big improvement aesthetically.

Fender has been making these Jagmasters, Jaguars, and Jazzmasters with no rhythm circuit but with nothing on the top horn of the guitar, the pickguard always seemed unnecessarily big. The only reason why they were doing it was because people would get pissed because it wouldn't be a "real Jazzmaster".

I can't get over that fact that Squier is offering a Jazzmaster and people are upset because of the strat input jack. Sure, it doesn't look the best; in no way will it effect tone or playability. Also, it is a Jazzmaster with a MAPLE fretboard. We always want Fender and guitar companies to try something "new" or offer us AVRI quality in a $350 guitar, but when a company actually does something new, everyone just scoffs it off. If nothing else, it at least provides us hope that they will release a more traditional Jazzmaster/Jaguar sometime soon.

I just can't wrap my head around the fact that people are dismissing the entire guitar because of the strat jack.

i can't believe you're not.

if it had a regular input jack, and the three way on the lower bout, i'd totally rock the bajamaster. with that awful looking bridge.

strat jacks literally only look good on strats, and that's by a thin margin. strat style pickups (pickguard mounted single coils) look good in other guitars (mustangs, duos, broncos, and the like), their trem/bridge looks good on other guitars (jagmasters, tele deluxe, etc), and their knobs and contours have helped future models more than they've hurt, but that fucking jack plate is atrocious.

Agreed, if they'd done an exact copy of a Fender jazzmaster it'd probably be frowned upon by just as many, for being too safe. It's a no win situation.

Surely a variety is a good thing when it comes to guitar selection... for pure diversity. Naturally we are always going to look back on the original design as a comparison to everything that comes after... but times change. This is a new offering.

It actually mimics a lot from the original Jazzmaster prototype... which I feel is a nice feature. Plug in and play I say !!!!

agreed, jack not a huge deal...wanky bridge is too me..... they could have at least used a tune-o-matic of some sort

but I guess different strokes for different folks, if u do not like it, then don't buy it

Or is the strat jack more of a justification to yourself on why u do not need to spend money on this new guitar that a part of u really wants?....

The jack and bridge aren't new, though. It's just a mish-mash of old and safe designs.

The jack won't change how it plays, but there's no point in trying to say that it doesn't matter because of that. If these came in daphne blue and whatever popular colour on here we'd all be talking about how cool the colour is. Pale maple necks don't play any different from tinted ones (other than that tinted tend to be glossier) but people care about that sort of thing, too. Not to mention the chrome on a jaguar.

There's no getting away from the fact the strat jack looks ridiculous. Nearly as ridiculous as having a sticker on your guitar to cover a pointless route.

I agree, I think it would look better on the side of the guitar but is that all it takes to simply dismiss the guitar?

I understand the bridge more than the jack. I have never liked Jagmasters because I don't get along with strat style trems but never have I thought that a guitar was ruined because I didn't like the jack, that's ridiculous.
