Nice. Karma. Good luck with your future transactions.
I was mostly kidding. I just meant I could part with it at try to get back some of the cost.

Thanks Cur, I don't know why I didn't fully read that... their email assistance emailed me back and said in Canada you need a case for full return... who knows.

I've had great luck with SX. I have two different teles from them and both are great.

One needed more springs on the trem system (because I use heavy strings) and both needed a set up, but now, they both play great. Pups are meh, but I would go with SX; it seems like more people lean that way when buying budget guitars. Though, I kind of want to see more people get the GFS so I know if they're worth buying.

Just to muddy the waters a bit, Guitar Fetish introduced their own:

At 194, I would rather by the Douglas Rondo option because it is Mahogany instead of alder, and then buy a GFS p90, will add up to 190 anyways

yeah, they both seem like they would be good. I guess it's just whatever you want. I'm assuming GFS made the natural finish LP Jr. alder (unlike all the other finishes that are mahogany) because it has a more defined grain pattern. at times mahogany can be not quite as nice looking in natural (the one in the picture looks good however). although though not a traditional gibson wood, there's nothing bad sounding about alder. they both have their own quirky-but-not-too-outrageous body shape. the only reasons I might prefer the GFS I guess is the odd switch location on the douglas. I can't decide if I like the mismatched P90s or not, but why inset the dog-ear P90? odd. wouldn't something like this made a little more sense??

I really wish I could justify another guitar - that 2 P90 GFS would be on a truck to my apartment right now.

The SG's look money but the routes/contours on the horns are def different...but not a huge deal with me

I am with Will I would buy the LP Special in black from GFS if I could justify it, I am gonna hold out till my b-day in June and hopefully by then they will have the SG's with P90's 8)

I would go GFS LP Special for $210... will need a set up and prolly some fret work...so an extra $50..comes too $260

The Agile I was peepin was the black "gold top" with P90's for $225...ad set up and GFS P90's ur looking at $350

The Agile and the Douglas's have ceramic magnet pu's... I gotta have the Alinco's, I prefer Alinco V pickup's.... and the fact that the both above mentioned ones have a tune-o-matic bridge..... I cannot stand a guitar with poor intonation....pet peeve of mine

EDIT: I emailed GFS and they do plan on releasing SGs with P90's...but they did not have a time frame

Damn I may wait for SG.

The Douglas is more aesthetically pleasing to me... I like the pickguard and melodymaker knob positions.

But it may be more economical for the GFS as it has the pickups.

If you mean the ambery one they're billing as "TV" finish, it could also be because TV Yellow on mahogany is fairly labor intensive/messy/timely to apply. You put solid paint over open-grained mahogany, then dark grain filler on top of that, then you have to clean the grain filler out of the field of the wood and mist more paint on to soften the look of the filler... So trans-amber over alder starts to sound pretty good, It's a piece of piss and you still get the yellow+grain look (though real TV Yellow is creamier and the grain effect can be far less pronounced).

you mean the "carved" edges kind of thing? they are a shallower carve on the GFS, the actual shape of the guitar is extremely close though.

others have definitely done worse:

what is the point of a soap bar and a p90? i think it looks botarded.

that contour is fucking lush, however.

A soapbar is a P-90, the other style cover is called dog-ear. Gibson actually used soapbars under dog-ear covers on some of the old '50s LP Juniors when they ran out of dog-ears during a batch.

They probably made their melody makers that way to set them apart a little, or just to give it that LPJ vibe. With two soapbars it would look more LP Specialish IMO, and that probably wouldn't be hard to do if you really wanted (depends on the routing for the bridge unit and how much the dog-ear hole in the pickguard would bug you).

The Yellow on that Douglas is awful, which is a shame because the Agile version has a real TV finish and you can see what a kick-ass guitar that would be:

Yea, I is a bad match for TVY. More like PLY.

Don't know why but I have always kind of liked lightning yellow. Not sure for a guitar, but I do like it on a Ducati.
