These will sell like hotcakes at that price. Not the kind of thing I would ore order. It'll be interesting to see how well they function/how durable they prove. A cool idea, if nothing else!

Nah, with the Inventobox, you can actually the dictate pot values, control layouts and "get to" wire the PCBs in by hand, pretty much like putting a real pedal together. This is more a unit with different "pedals" in the form of PCB cartridges that you just plug in.

But hey, Devi's posting here now, I'm sure she can fill us in, all proper-like.

Albeit in a tedious and not very roadworthy way. I think the Inventobox thing is incredibly flawed. There are a million ways you can fuck up building a pedal this way even if you know what you're doing, and for the price premium? Just get a bloody soldering iron.

Beavis Audio also offeres a great DIYers starting kit including breadboard etc. I don't know why the Inventobox exists.

Hmmm, I'm trying quite hard to not be impressed by this but I'm not doing a very good job.

I quite like the look of boards with loads of colourful pedals, though. That's the only disadvantage I can think of yet.

Why not stick the cartridges in the back (top edge) of the pedal? It would vastly reduce the possibility of stomping on and destroying them.

i remember reading somewhere about spilled bear on cd's growing crazy crystals and fucking with the lazers in cd players at some bar. the sound clips were awesome.

this idea, while cool, is so 1980's and out of touch.

however, i'm a sucker for anything with faux-woodgrain on it. so i might just buckle when it's released.

What would be cool, would be some sort of pedal that could take data from an SD card or similar and you'd be able to program signal processing on your computer beforehand, then boot them on the pedal. It'd come bundled with Max/MSP style software that people could dick around with.

It'd be cool, expensive to make, difficult to sell, and probably redundant within about three years. Still though, I'd buy one if they could get the costs down to, ohhh, say, fifty quid.

I would'nt have thought so. The guys contributing to this idea have an army of followers that just play at home or in the studio/rehearsal room.
One thing i know, this product would'nt last two songs with some of the Punk bands i've been in.

as cool as that sounds, I'm not sure I hear it. which album do you mean? their early stuff sounds similar to flaming lips, their mid-00s stuff was like jumbled and remixed folk, and their more recent stuff is rather boring commercial ready electro-burble.
