Yes, it is, haha. Here's what happened: I ordered the guitar for myself for my birthday. Shortly after, my parents gave me $200 toward it, and I had no idea they even knew I was saving for the guitar. So I decided to use it on mods.SGJarrod wrote:aren't those like $165?....thats crazy money for a bridge on a $450 guitarRedwoodCephalopod wrote:Among other mods, a Mastery bridge is getting installed on my Blacktop JM and I should have it back by the end of the week. $160 worth of pickup upgrades will be a hell of a lot better value than $160 worth of bridge upgrades. If the bridge is actually bad, then you still have $40 left (if you did actually spend $160 on a pair of pickups) which will pick you up something plenty good enough.RedwoodCephalopod wrote:Yes, it is, haha. obviously, it's terrible advice. that's what made me laugh. it's obvious.James wrote:That's terrible advice.hotrodperlmutter wrote:FUUUUUUUUUUUMike wrote:Also:
Blacktop Jazzmaster = 9.5" radius
Mustang bridge = 7.25" radius.
DO IT ANYWAY
Why buy a new bridge with the aim of increasing how well your guitar plays but choose one that will make it play worse?
i'm guessing since you missed my previous advice that was solid, you also missed the bit where OP said he was just going to try stewarts original suggestion of gluing the threads.
my only question is will a mastery bridge work on a 9.5" radius?

I THINK I MIGHT HAVE SEEN AN OLD MIJ BIRDGE FOR SALE IN THE CLASSIFIEDS FOR CHEAP MAYBE YOU SHOULD BUY THAT AND TRY IT OUT?
In all seriousness -- your options are essentially :
Mastery (too much mooooneeeeyyy)
Jazzmaster/Jaguar Bridge (cheeeeeep/adjustable to your radius with a little work)
Those MIM Bridges!
