Anyone played one of these? They sound great from all the videos I've seen online, but they are pricey! I wonder if there's another guitar that could give you a similar sound at a fraction of the byrdland's cost.
Also, I heard Ted Nugent plays one... kind of strange.

There was the Epiphone Elitist Byrdland but they were very good quality so they sell for around $2,000 in most ebay auctions now. But I have seen some listed for cheaper at guitar stores.
The Epiphone got very good reviews, I never played the Epi version just the Gibson but the Epi version is 23.5 scale. There was also the earlier version of the Gibson ES-350t which was based on the Byrdland but was cheaper, it also had the 23 1/2 scale.
