Do it! Don't wait or it will be gone. If you have the green, go for it. I don't need another Jag, but I would buy that IBM Jag just for the color.cobascis wrote:It's in Oregon.Yarko wrote:I will buy that if someone shows me where it is.robroe wrote: used AVRI IBM for only 699. thats a fuckin deal.
Here is my AVRI Jaguar I got on Used Guitar Center from New York.
J Mascis Jazzmaster | AVRI Jaguar | Tuxedo-stang |Fender Toronado GT |
Squier FSR Sparkle Jaguar | Squier CV Mustang |1971 Fender Bronco| Baja Telecaster |

But the AVRIs at Avenue is so damn expensive, last time I checked they were $1800ish. And I just missed a white one on kijiji for $1,000 last week. I will check my back account and maybe go for it.serfx wrote:Yarko, i think i saw one at avenue guitars yesterday in that colour, though i may be mistaken, but it would be worth the trip to whyte ave to have a look.

+1 again. Exact same scenario I went through. Both salesman and manager acknowledged the price was too low but I didn't give them time to correct it.robroe wrote:just do what i did. call the fucking manager and say I SAW THIS SHIT ON YOUR WEBSITE AND I WANT TO BUY IT NOW. HERE IS MY CC NUMBER. FUCKING SEND ME THAT SHIT.
the manager will be like DUDE AWESOME OK
I wouldn't let a pickup swap kill the deal. AVRI pups aren't that expensive.

Call and ask if it says Made in Japan or Crafted in Japan on the back of the neck. If it doesn't, it's an AVRI. That's how they figured mine was. My AVRI Jag came with a mute, so if the Japanese Jags don't they might be wrong about. Most of the sales staff at Guitar Center no absolutely jack about Jaguars. They can't even tell you about the pickup switching.
Do Japanese Jaguars come with hard cases? That case looks exactly like my AVRI Jag case.

CAUTION: UNRELIABLE ADVICE: it could also mean someone's sanded it off. The only reliable way to tell is to look and see if there's a circular rout under the bridge where the plunger for the mute goes: if so, it's American.
There are, of course, other ways to tell - if the headstock decal is on top of the finish rather than below it, it's USA (but this is easily faked too), or you can whip the neck off and see if the fingerboard is slab (USA) or veneer (Japan), or look at the neck stamp. But no guitar shop monkey is going to take the neck off for you.
