What sorta Jag is it? I reckon 400 for a jag that looks that good aint half bad!

Looks good, love the Witch hats... love the overall seventies vibe.

From my experience, don't bother using the buzz stop... one business card thin Shim will do just as much good... and wont spoil the aesthetics.

Sold all the Burns then ?

Don't know if that was sarcasm. I've had a day full of it, so excuse me !!

Well it's not really the same thing as a buzz stop but you can achieve similar goals... will aid sustain, help with buzzing probs and prevent strings popping out the bridge. Primarily due to the increased angle of the neck and increasing the height of the bridge which is necessary when shimming.

Just search 'Neck shim' ...

here's an example:

Just chop the end off a business card and trim corners to fit snug in the depths of the neck pocket.

Ah no wasn't sarcasm but didn't realise you meant a neck shim. Was picturing something done to the tremelo. How does this prevent chimes? Greater break angle over the bridge?

The neck is already shimmed, actually. That's what's sort of annoying about the whole thing. The wiring, trem and bridge were fairly buggered when it turned up, and it was damaged and busted up all over the shop, and yet it seems like somebody at some point actually had a clue what they were doing. Probably one of the first few owners.

It's a CIJ Jaguar, I don't think it's even that old to be honest, it's just been abused by idiots.

And NO! I'd never sell my Burnseseses. This is a great companion to the Batwing and Nu-Sonic.

Aye, Â£400 to have a personalized good working CIJ Jag is'nt bad at all.

Concerning the ringing, are the roller saddles quite loose? I'm wondering if lubricating them to stop any rattle will solve it.
What i found with the Jaguar was the bridge needs completely lubricating because not only do the strings go over at a shallow angle but the distance of string from the bridge to tail also make any noise more audible. The buzz stop increases the angle more drastically than shimming the neck and also breaks that distance of string by half. More tension on to the bridge being the solution to stop ringing/rattle.
Your bridge upgrade has moving parts so i'll bet lubricating them will help.
On Vintage Jags, the bridge is usually gunked up or corroded to some degree and you dont seem to get the same problems (based on the 3-4 i've played).
So i think this all concludes loose parts on the bridge are the problem.

When I was putting together some idle fantasy build I was checking out those bridges. I read a post describing rattle from the saddles, the dude just stuck the thing in a vise briefly and squeezed the two ends a tiny bit, the saddles sat more snug after that... so it could be a common problem.

I'm loving the aesthetics here, looks like a filthy rock machine.

Brief hijack sorry!

Fran (or anyone else!) with the 'behind the bridge' type trems have you noticed tangible benefits of roller bridges over say a TOM or type? Would you expect this roller bridge to have the same kind of sustain and tone as a TOM but keep tune better?

not evetr used one and inetrested to se how it works out for EK as I like to be pretty heavy handed with the trem...

To be honest Dave i've never used a roller bridge. I think the Mascis Jazzy comes with one as stock...
The JS i built i used a standard TOM with Jag trem and it works fine but i dont use the trem much to be honest.
I'm under the impression the more moving parts the less sustain, probably why strat and two point pivot tremolos employ sustain blocks.
