Boss RE-20 Space Echo isn't analog.avj wrote: I also have the Boss RE-20 Space Echo, and it's fucking phenomenal. I bought it as soon as it was released and have not regretted it for a second. It seems to have been lost in the sea of more affordable analog delay pedals, but its feature set isn't duplicated in any other pedal I've seen.

Memory Boy is great in my opinion....Whilst the DSP-based tape emulation stuff like the Strymon looks (& sounds) pretty good if the demos are to be believed, I'm of the opinion that spending that much on one pedal is bat shit crazy. I spent about £60 on the memory boy when they had first come out & it hasn't left my board since...there's a slight volume boost (as others have mentioned) but if you're ok using a volume pedal (or the volume knob on your guitar) it's a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. Would recommend.
That's an odd way of interpreting the statement, especially given the way I wrote about the pedal. Being obviously aware of its origin, did you really suspect I believed there to be an actual spring reverb and a tape loop stuffed inside there somewhere? Come on!wwrrss wrote:Boss RE-20 Space Echo isn't analog.avj wrote: I also have the Boss RE-20 Space Echo, and it's fucking phenomenal. There simply exists a metaphorical sea of affordable delay pedals somewhere, and the RE-20 has been lost in it; this implies nothing about the RE-20.
Not as mental as the whopping £670 this Lovetone Big Cheese went for.Mike wrote:Personally I think £250 is mental for a pedal, but some people are happy enough paying it

Here's some feedback on that...Doog wrote:My experience was of the Stereo Memory Man With Hazarai which I would've thought had the same Blende control as Toy and Boy, but given the "volume boost" being mentioned here, maybe it's not.
On the SMMWH, you get 100% of your original signal only if the Blend's turned all the way down, any other position that that is a trade off (60% original, 40% delay etc) so it's all too easy to drop in a live band mix once the pedal's on. Poorly thought-out design for reals.
