It seems to have been lost in the sea of more affordable analog delay pedals, but its feature set isn't duplicated in any other pedal I've seen.
Boss RE-20 Space Echo isn't analog.

Memory Boy is great in my opinion....Whilst the DSP-based tape emulation stuff like the Strymon looks (& sounds) pretty good if the demos are to be believed, I'm of the opinion that spending that much on one pedal is bat shit crazy. I spent about £60 on the memory boy when they had first come out & it hasn't left my board since...there's a slight volume boost (as others have mentioned) but if you're ok using a volume pedal (or the volume knob on your guitar) it's a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. Would recommend.

That's an odd way of interpreting the statement, especially given the way I wrote about the pedal. Being obviously aware of its origin, did you really suspect I believed there to be an actual spring reverb and a tape loop stuffed inside there somewhere? Come on!

There simply exists a metaphorical sea of affordable delay pedals somewhere, and the RE-20 has been lost in it; this implies nothing about the RE-20.

Not as mental as the whopping £670 this Lovetone Big Cheese went for.

Didn't the Lovetones cost around £150 in the '90s?

Doog wrote:My experience was of the Stereo Memory Man With Hazarai which I would've thought had the same Blende control as Toy and Boy, but given the "volume boost" being mentioned here, maybe it's not.

On the SMMWH, you get 100% of your original signal only if the Blend's turned all the way down, any other position that that is a trade off (60% original, 40% delay etc) so it's all too easy to drop in a live band mix once the pedal's on. Poorly thought-out design for reals.
Here's some feedback on that...
