EDOT: It was this one
The Studio '60s Tribute are the same as the Studio 50's Tribute except they have the thinner '60 neck.

I really wish I'd bought a honeyburst 50's studio tribute. My heart flutters when I see one in the right light.

i has a pickguard question. why do guitarists prefer 3-ply guards when many vintage guitars came with 1-ply? is this just because it prevents warping? why don't many people change the original pickguards to 3-ply? I know these reissues are not vintage, but they sport a 1-ply pickguard like many vintage guitars do.

Customs have a 3 or 5 ply pickguard, the standard style LPs (cream plastic, top binding only) have always had 1-ply. Studios have a 1-ply black one I think.
It's Fender that beefed up plies and screws to prevent warping, back in '59. The vintage 50s RI guitars have 1-ply just to look right. It's not only 1-ply but square-edged (no bevel) and much thinner. Basically if you've seen gold ano guards up close, the original plastic ones were exactly the same size/shape/thickness as that (except on the Jazzmaster which I think always had multi-ply because it was tort).
