Coming soon: Gibson Les Paul Studio ’60s Tribute(Link) look the same as the 50s Tributes but they have thinner necks.

I could have sworn Gibson already did the 60s studio tribute, or was that the ones with humbuckers?

EDOT: It was this one

That is the "Studio Deluxe 60's" it is a different guitar and a "Guitar Center exclusive"

The Studio '60s Tribute are the same as the Studio 50's Tribute except they have the thinner '60 neck.

I really wish I'd bought a honeyburst 50's studio tribute. My heart flutters when I see one in the right light.

P90s natch! Slim neck FTW.
To LP or to SG?
That is the question.

(Goldtop LP, Honeyburst LP, or Natural Brown SG? Yellow SG ... SG Goldtop ....)

Will be up for days wringing my hands and mumbling.
God damn it! Its a Zombie Apocalypse. Do I have a baseball bat nearby?

It sucks they have these in a limited run only. It seems like these are gonna sell like hotcakes, and should be in their standard line.

i has a pickguard question. why do guitarists prefer 3-ply guards when many vintage guitars came with 1-ply? is this just because it prevents warping? why don't many people change the original pickguards to 3-ply? I know these reissues are not vintage, but they sport a 1-ply pickguard like many vintage guitars do.

Customs have a 3 or 5 ply pickguard, the standard style LPs (cream plastic, top binding only) have always had 1-ply. Studios have a 1-ply black one I think.

It's Fender that beefed up plies and screws to prevent warping, back in '59. The vintage 50s RI guitars have 1-ply just to look right. It's not only 1-ply but square-edged (no bevel) and much thinner. Basically if you've seen gold ano guards up close, the original plastic ones were exactly the same size/shape/thickness as that (except on the Jazzmaster which I think always had multi-ply because it was tort).

$849, huh.

I like that price, and I like that guitar. It'd look hot in white, that's for sure.
