Most Overlooked/Under-Appreciated Fender Student Guitar
Now that I have finished my 1978 Musicmaster, I kinda realize how some of these guitars are overlooked and not appreciated for the quality instruments they are. The simplicity of my Musicmaster is only beaten by it's tone. I am definitely more open to the other models like the Bronco or Mustang. So which Fender Student Model do you think should get more love?

J Mascis Jazzmaster | AVRI Jaguar | Tuxedo-stang |Fender Toronado GT |
Squier FSR Sparkle Jaguar | Squier CV Mustang |1971 Fender Bronco| Baja Telecaster |

I FIGURED IT ALL OUT!
Musicmaster II for shore... or later known as the Music Master... I am pro now.
So hot. With the Mustang guard oh my!
Need to buy one now.

Easily the Musicmaster. It's so underappreciated that a Musicmaster neck goes for like $150 on Ebay, where Mustang necks will go for $350, despite the fact that they're identical.
At least the Duo Sonic has Liz Phair associated with it and the Bronco's got that Arctic Monkeys guy and Mustangs have Nirvana.

The Duo-sonic II and Musicmaster II are just offset versions... and the Musicmaster II uses the bronco pickguard?
The Duo-sonic II has mustang switching as well no?
When did the musicmaster use the Mustang pickguard? That is a hot verison. Was it offset?
I found a website on this because I wanted to know when Musicmaster switched over to the Bronco pickguard like mine. Duo-Sonic II and Musicmaster II were the offset versions based on the Mustang Body. I think the Duo Sonic II's always had the Mustang Switch based on the photos I saw. The Musicmaster II had the same Mustang pickguard and control plate through the 1968. In 1968, the MusicMaster II was renamed the Music Master (two words) and kept the Mustang pickguard until 1976. After 1976, they went to the Bronco pickguards like mine and the one Haze has. The Music Master was supposed to be replaced by the Bronco but both were in production into the early 80s.

From that site, supposidly your musicmaster sucks.
How do you feel about that? If you love it... then imagine how could the MusicMaster II are and earlier.
Would you consider your Musicmaster a Musicmaster II cause its offset and after the original?

I didn't read that mine sucked, only that it was the final version. My guitar is a 1978 MusicMaster (one word) which is just a MusicMaster II with a Bronco Pickguard. I have a 1972 Music Master (two words) neck on mine which could be a little confusing.Lucamo wrote:From that site, supposidly your musicmaster sucks.

I should have said MusicMaster II/ Music Master/MusicMaster on the poll.

Totally agree.Richard wrote:Several years ago I would have said the Bronco because they were rarely mentioned and sold for next to nothing. They've all gotten more popular though and now I think they all get the recognition they deserve but if I have to pick I'd say the Music Master.
I owned two 70s models and they were great, possibly the last affordable vintage Fender left.

Yeah that MM is rad. I would prefer just a toggle switch on the lower horn but I'd rock the shit out of that.
I really think 70s Music Masters are the best value left in the vintage market(at least for American guitars). They look great, are well made, have kick ass necks, can take all the abuse you send their way, and even though single pickup setups aren't for me the ease with which they can be Duo-Sonic'd makes that a non-issue.
