Most Overlooked/Under-Appreciated Fender Student Guitar

I regularly see 70s MMs selling for less than a reissue Mustang/same as a Vista Super Sonic, so I have to pick that one.

I totally understand the need for that bridge pickup. I could have easily gone that route but the pickguard from Cooterfinger only had the one pickup and I was inspired by Haze's 1978 Musicmaster so I kept it stock. Besides My Jaguar and Baja Tele both have a ton of switching options and I liked the idea of a simple guitar where I would have to work the knobs to get my tone. The treble bleed that Haze wired into my harness is so nice and I don't lose treble unless I roll off the tone knob. I want to buy/build a Mustang, so I didn't want to have another guitar just like what I already have.

I see them in shops. Slightly smaller, less chainy shops. Online is different, because the market is so much broader.
I've seen 70's MM guitars and basses around the 500-700 mark in Guitar Showcase on Bascom Ave in Campbell, CA. They once had a black Supersonic for $475 and a blue sparkle one for $525, while they had two identical white MM basses downstairs for $575 each, and a black one in the same style for $525. Then I almost bought a Musicmaster II guitar for $700 once in the same room, but various problems with it's condition + a refinish I wouldn't be seen with steered me away.
