My friend gave me the black pickguard a couple weeks ago because he got it for free but didn't have a P bass. I really like the difference that the black pickguard made on this bass!
When I got the pickguard it didn't have any shielding on the underside of it, so I did it myself with some heavy duty aluminum foil and Elmer's spray adhesive. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the process so I could do a how to thread, but I'm sure I have more guitars that need shielding on the pickguards so I can do one soon.
Yea, just looking at the white and tort in person was fine, but I kept noticing that in all my pictures from shows, the pickguard was showing up overly red even though it looked darker and more brown in person. I just kind of got sick of the tort, and this black pickguard just looks so nice! Definitely very sid vicious style. But what actually sparked the black on white idea in my mind was this Metric video:
Some of the girls that I've taught guitar to have had the heart shaped picks and they didn't say anything on them. I don't know where they got them though.
Looks nice, dude. I always thought that white + tort looked sexy on offset bodies but that in general, it's a terrible combination for most other things.
