They sound great in that demo. I had a 65RI and loved the pickups.

yes they did. for clean sounding they were great. for solo and sustain with boost they sounded crap and weak.

If you're after a sustaining sound, you shouldn't be playing a Mustang.

The pickups in the reissues are pretty accurate representations of the original vintage (low output) Mustang single coils. I have owned a 65RI, and I now have a 70s Competition Mustang. They both sound great - are they soloing guitars? Nope. But thta's not the point of the 65Ri or the Mustang.

They are not "crap" or "weak".

Aye, I play a Jaguar and a Mustang, not exactly looking for Steve Vai sustain.

It is interesting, I've been playing the Stang a lot more. I think it plays a little better (better neck) that the jaguar, but the Jaguar sounds different/better.

why not? i love my mustangs. its just the original pickups that i didnt like.

ah, thats youre opinion. you can do great solos on mustangs.

since i changed the pickups the mustang turned out great for solos and sustain sound.

Are the compstang necks different?

I know on the vintage ones they vary over time and from guitar to guitar, but every RI I've played has felt pretty much the same.

I am such a follower. Now I want one :) I have tried in vain to trade gear for a Mustang but haven't been successful yet. I will own/build one soon after I get some tools. The Music Master really fanned the flames for me getting more Fender student guitars. The next guitar blank has already been planed to 1.5" thick in anticipation.

Thanks dude. I did it all on the iPhone 4 (iMovie app), except for the Audio which was GarageBand. I did it basically as a test of the software. The app works really well except for the audio editing, which is nonexistant. You cannot even move the audio around. Everything else is top notch considering you are editing HD video on your cell phone.
