Carlsbro

Post by johnnyseven »

I thought they'd gone bust but they seem to have a new website and they're making 2 new versions of the 50 Top, a single channel and a dual channel. If they are as good as the old 50 Tops from the 60/70's they will be well worth a look.

Cool! My dad's got an old TR60, and it sounds great. Kind of marshal-ish. I've never heard a top 50 though. How do they sound?

My 50 Top was made in 1969 and sounds great. I've never cranked it to make it overdrive but the cleans are really good and takes pedals really well. Turn it up and the cleans get a nice bit of grit added which I won't get on my Bassman 50. Apparently they compare very well with the Marshall amps of the same era, it's just that nobody knows about then and the people that do seem to love them. They also supposed to be quite rare.

It looks like the name has been bought by someone as there is something on the website that says they will not honour warranties on old Carlsbro products.
