www.guitarcenter.com

Click on the used gear tab and search for Musicmaster

$400 is a nice price for a vintage Fender shortscale

I like the idea of a Musicmaster but I only like the looks of a Mustang-style MM. :(

There's also a CIJ Mustang Bass for $399.

What do you mean? That Musicmaster doesn't have a Mustang body?

Yeah, to me, the subsequent redesign of the MM/Duo-Sonic line is just a blatant case of uglifying them just to differentiate them from the Mustang. Which worked, I guess. I find them hideous compared to the MM IIs and the Duo IIs.

I'm sure the resale market has decided the same. I see the MM and Duo IIs selling for far more than the earlier or the later versions.

Also doesn't hurt that every picture of Liz Phair seems to feature an MM II or a Duo-Sonic II.

Drop some Bronco Knobs on it and it will sex it up. It worked great for mine, of course mine is Fiesta Red vs all Black.

Oh come on. Most people in the world seem to think Mustangs are not that pretty. Only dedicated shortscalers see anything pretty about a Duo or a Bronco or an MM.

i always though the 70s redesign was ugly. i had one and never liked the pickguard nor the wonky top horn they put on the later ones. give me a II or give me nothing (unless you are actually giving it to me, in which case i'll quite happily take it).

guitar on the left: ignore the fact that it has a 70s pickguard on it, it's a 60s body.
guitar on the right: a late 70s body.
